Hi again. Like I said ... it’s not your must-blog-everyday-author you’ve got here... sorry for that fact :-)
...but like the subject says (tada-da-daah) Gallery Extension!
Yes... That’s what I’m working on right now, and my plan is to use the build-in post-system, but attach a special tag, so that the ordinary BlogEngine.NET don’t act if it’s a normal blog post – that would kind ‘a ruin the whole idea.
With great assistance from Yourhost’s lead developer, Brian Holmgård it's moving forward to something usable. I’m still struggling with the BlogEngine.NET’s way to handle new pages but still including things like the great comment-tool. Seems to be a lot of checks for correct post urls and stuff like that, there for some reason is not just copy-paste, since it keeps redirecting me to the front page. So for now this feature is disabled in the gallery section, hope to figure out how to include this later.
Current position on the development is that I’ve managed to add an extra add-entry-page with is where your normal subjects (but with pictures) are posted. These of course needs some tweaking and better interface that actually also can read its unique picture-tags. Also I’ve added the view-gallery-post pages and made a small picture handler for keeping the architecture of the BlogEngine.NET by saving images to the "App_Data" folder. Currently it automatically saves a thumb and the original picture in 2 separate folders, witch by the image handler is chosen via a simple query string.
Further updates on this topic, as things progress.
